In Loving Memory ~

Donald Rexin passed away peacefully on his 85th birthday, hand in hand with his wife Sandra by his side at their home in Kelowna B.C. Together they had shared over 3 decades of love, freedom, and happiness. Kelowna was also Donald's birthplace. He was the son of Raymond and Lydia Rexin who predeceased him.

He was also predeceased by his sisters Velma and Muffy, and his brothers, Doug, Harley, Kenny, and Vern.

He is survived by his brothers Rick and Ernie.

Donald spoke fondly of growing up with his many brothers and sisters in the Kettle Valley area. There were several entertaining stories of childhood mischief and adventures. Being raised on a farm there were many animals. He had a favourite dog, Rover, and a very fast horse named Silver. His closeness and contribution to the family continued as an adult. Don's working life for the longest time was spent in the bush, logging, where he started as a young teenager. He learned most aspects of the industry, but was mainly a hand faller, which he found fulfilling. At age 22 he married Betty and started a family.

While raising a family, he continued logging but also took time to get his G.E.D. and electrical training in Vancouver. Upon returning to Grand Forks, he worked at Granby mine and later for the Department of Highways. In retirement Donald embraced the snowbird lifestyle. He and Sandra shared many travel adventures and endless summers. They also enjoyed time with their children, grandchildren and their two great grandchildren. Donald's dedication to family continued with his own children and blended family as well. He was always there for us all. He gave us honest, intelligent, unfiltered opinions and advice, and always unconditional love and support.

Whether you called him Don, Dad, Papa, brother or uncle he was loved by many.

We will miss him.

A celebration of life is planned for this summer
