December 16, 1957 - August 4, 2020
On August 4th the world lost a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
Don passed away peacefully at home, in his happy place, surrounded by love.
Don was born in Boissevain, Manitoba with a twin brother. He was the 6th child to Margaret and James Pratt, and grew up in Ninga MB. After high school Don moved to Calgary to live with his older brother Gord and it was in Calgary where he met the love of his life, Marie. After a year of courtship they were wed August 26, 1978 in Grand Forks, BC. Don then started his welding business and after the birth of their son Daniel, he and Marie moved to Kamloops where they had their daughter Emily. Ultimately Don and Marie (or Donny and Marie as they were affectionately called) ended up settling in Grand Forks where they raised their two children, and where Don owned and operated local businesses.
Don was very accomplished welder/fabricator and had a vast skill set. He built his beloved family home, restored many classic cars and had a lifelong passion for riding Harley
Davidson motorcycles. Don rode his last Harley all over North America, and the odometer reads a distance of more than the circumference of Earth.
Don was a private person, but for those that were lucky enough to get to know Don, they knew of his kind heart, generous spirit, intelligent mind and wonderful sense of humour. Don would move mountains for those that were close to him and would always forgive those that were not.
Don leaves behind his loving wife, Marie, his son Daniel (Anastasia), daughter Emily (David) and their two children Avery and Benjamin, as well as, his sister Iyleen and his brothers Tom, Gord and Michael. Don is predeceased by his parents Magaret and James, his twin brother Dale and eldest sister Betty.
The Pratt family deeply thanks everyone for all of your condolences, well wishes and heart warming stories over the past few weeks. We hope to continue to have those that cared about Don help us to always remember him and celebrate his life through these cherished memories, stories and thoughts.
