Dr. D. Vallis

It is with great sadness that the family of Dr. Derek Vallis announce his passing on January 27, 2017 one day shy of his 88th birthday. Dr. Vallis was an extraordinary man, exemplifying true community spirit.
Not only did he practice medicine for fifty years in the city of Greenwood, he served many years on the school board, held an executive position on the Phoenix Ski Hill committee and also served on Greenwood city council. “Doc”, as many of his friends referred to him was a man of many passions. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, skiing and gardening. He held a high regard for his friends and family, often regaling fond memories of those past and present.
Dr. Vallis was not only an outstanding member of the community, he was a devoted doctor, husband and father. He continually put his family and patients needs before his own. Left to mourn are his loving wife Marion, daughter Jennifer (Findlater), son-in-law John and grandsons Jason and Justin Findlater.
