Derek Peach

March 9, 1937 - October 20, 2017

Derek Peach, of Grand Forks, BC, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Friday, October 20, 2017 at the age of 80.  

The only child of Sam and Mabel Peach, Derek was born on March the 9th, 1937 in Barrow Upon Soar, England. He served as a radar operator in the Royal Air Force from 1955 to 1957 before attending the Loughborough College of Art and then the Bournemouth Art College until 1963.

He married Catherine Peach (Fern) in 1963 and they emigrated to Canada together in 1967 to work as teachers in Grand Forks, BC.  He touched many lives during the 28 years he spent teaching art and social studies at the Grand Forks Secondary School.  

Derek had many interests and passions over the years, but they generally revolved around nature and his love of the outdoors. In his later years, he was most passionate about fly fishing and upland game bird hunting.

Derek will be sadly missed by family and friends including his two children, Ben and Sarah, and his two beloved grandchildren, Kaylee and Tia.

A celebration of life will be held at the Gallery 2 art gallery in Grand Forks from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Sunday November 12, 2017.
