November 26, 1961 - December 1, 2023

In loving memory of:

1961 November 26 - 2023 December 1

Dave was born and raised here in Grand Forks, BC to George (Jr.) & Alice Semenoff where he had a full and busy childhood along with his younger sister Shannon, hanging out with numerous neighbourhood friends.

He completed his grade 12 at G.F.S.S., then tried out some post-secondary studies in electrical at Castlegar and what turned out to be motor winding in Vancouver.

Dave returned to Grand Forks to work at the local sawmill (P&T, later Interfor) which turned into a 40-year career where he excelled in various positions retiring as a Trimmer 3 years ago.

In 1985, he married Brenda (nee Balon) who came to town as an R.C.M.P. Constable. Completing their family a few years later was son Nolan followed by daughter Kelsey.

Dave was very skilled at carpentry (building their home as well as other projects) and was a whiz with numbers.

He loved to garden, but garlic was his specialty.

His many interests included hockey, fishing, camping, some travel, investment charting, and making beef jerky.

Dave was a Do-It-Yourselfer as he loved to save a few bucks.

He had a unique larger-than-life presence with strong opinions, yet he was a hard worker, solid friend, and faithful man who played by his own rule book.

This past year, health issues surfaced that contributed to his heart giving out suddenly after shovelling snow.

Dave was predeceased by both sets of his grandparents, plus his father (in 2007).

A celebration honouring Dave's life was held on December 17th at Gospel Chapel, with an interment of ashes at the U.S.C.C. Cemetery.

Immediate family members left to mourn him are:

Alice Semenoff (mother)

Shannon Tenbroek (sister)

Brenda V. Semenoff (wife)

Nolan Semenoff (son)

Kelsey Semenoff (daughter)

plus numerous other family and friends.

We can all imagine Dave working with wood or creating Excel spreadsheets and insisting on a classic rock playlist up in the heavens.

May his soul finally be at peace.
