It is with a sad and heavy heart that we announce the passing of our brother Dale LaPointe. A personality larger than life....so much so, that he didn't realize the impact he had on the people he touched throughout his life. Dale spent the majority of his adolescent life in the Comox Valley before leaving the Valley at 18, hitchhiking through B.C. and settling in Grand Forks. Dale started work for Pope and Talbot at 18 years of age, working in the industry his whole career. He spent the last 10 years of his career working in the Castlegar mill for Interfor. Grand Forks was home to Dale, but throughout his life, he would "head to the island to visit the folks".
Dale was involved in the community from his early years, coaching hockey, playing hockey, softball and actively involved with Grand Forks Search and Rescue.
Fishing was Dale's passion, he loved his weekends on the lakes with both his fishing buddies and his family.
Dale was a deeply caring, humble and kind person who always took the time to stop and chat. Dale rarely spoke about himself but was always wanting to know how "you" were doing. It was his way to put his friends, family and work ahead of himself.
His life, taken way too soon, he is and will always be deeply missed by his brothers Dennis and Terry, sisters Jill, Donna, Sherry, Jackie, his "bros" Chuck, Al and Pete and his thirteen nephews and nieces, all whom he loved so very much. Family and friends were the foundation of Dale's life. We would like to sincerely thank the communities of Grand Forks and Castlegar for so many kind words, shared stories, hugs, cards and phone calls. Thank you to all of Dale and Dennis's close friends for their support, condolences and for wrapping your arms around our brother Dennis through this very difficult time. We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.
Rest In Peace Dale
A Celebration of Dale's life will be held later this Spring.
