Beloved wife and mother, Catherine "Jean" (Bonthron) Bandemer, died peacefully and surrounded by her children on August 2, 2019 at age 83. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Marat Martin Bandemer, Jr., of Tomball, TX, and her four children: Marat Martin Bandemer, III, and John Richard "Jack" Bandemer both of Janesville, WI, Cynthia "Cindy" Jean Bandemer (Scott Askew) of Houston, TX, and Allison Louise (Bill) Michaud of Tomball, TX. In addition, she is survived by her seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
She is survived by her sister Anita (Louie) Spavor and their children and families. Catherine is preceded in death by her parents Ellen (Hansen) Perkins and Chester Bonthron and her brother, David Bonthron.
Jean/Mom fulfilled her dream of being a homemaker and mother and created a home full of tradition, handicrafts, card games, cultural events and travel to her family home in Grand Forks, British Columbia, Canada, where she was born and raised. She became a naturalized US Citizen in 1969. Always busy and active, she enjoyed sewing and altering clothing, home based enterprises like Rubbermaid and Beeline parties, bowling leagues, dinner dances, square dancing, volunteering with the Republican Party and quilting with her local church, which she continued through her final months. She was a whiz at Rummicube and a lifelong fan of As the World Turns and The Guiding Light.
A Veteran's Funeral will be held at the National Cemetery in Houston, TX, on a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Vitas Hospice, The Woodlands, TX, who rendered kind and skillful care in our mother's final days.
