Carmel was born at home in Bruno, Saskatchewan, on May 22, 1929. She died peacefully after a lengthy illness, with friends at her side on September 14, 2010, at Grand Forks, B.C.
Carmel was predeceased by her son, Jerry (March 2005) and her husband, Casper (Cappy) Messmer (July 2007).
Carmel is survived by her brothers August and Loren, and by her sister Doreen (Borisko). She is also survived by granddaughters: Rosemary, Melissa and Jen Messmer. Carmel also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who love her.
A memorial service will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Grand Forks, on Monday, October 4, 2020, at 9 a.m.
Carmel has been cremated, and her cremains will be interred beside her husband in Bruno, Saskatchewan. May she rest in peace.
