In loving memory ~

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Carl Frederick (Fred) Wolfram who left us on March 14, 2025, after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's.

Fred was born on January 22, 1949, to Carl and Miriam Wolfram in Grand Forks BC. Growing up in Grand Forks, Fred was often busy curling, fishing, and helping at the family cabin at Christina Lake, working at the family garage or stocking shelves in Overwaite until he graduated high school. After high school, Fred went off to the University of British Columbia where he obtained his Chemical Engineering Degree. After his graduation from UBC, Fred made the move to relocate to Sparwood where he started working in the lab at Kaiser Resources.

While in Sparwood, Fred met his best friend and love of his life Cheryle Cook at the curling rink through mutual friends and they became inseparable. Fred and Cheryl were married in August 1977 and began 47 years of marriage together. After a few years, Fred and Cheryle started welcoming their pride and joys of Chris and Brenda to the family. Cheryle, Chris, and Brenda were Fred's whole world. He was a true family man who worked hard to provide for his family. He could often be found curling with Chris, at the skating rink with Brenda, driving both kids to piano lessons or building memories with the whole family fishing, swimming at Christina Lake, camping or working on projects around the house.

Fred could also be found helping those that needed help with his favorite subject math. He spent more hours than could be counted sitting at the kitchen table helping not only Chris and Brenda, but anyone who needed it. There are a lot of people who benefited from those hours of math lessons, even if they are not using that math today.

One of Fred's greatest roles in his life was that of being Grandpa to his Grandkids Danica, Zach, Ryley and Brody. He loved every minute of being a Grandpa and was beyond proud of each of the kids. Many hours were spent teaching them to swim, fish, play Crib, having treats from the kitchen set and more memories than can be counted.

Fred was able to fulfill his dream of being able to retire with Cheryle at the Wolfram family home at Christina Lake. He loved being at the lake, puttering around the house, fishing with the Grandkids and sitting on the deck looking at the view with Cheryle.

We have been truly fortunate to hear many kind words about Fred while he was sick and since he has passed and his own words that he spoke in the weeks before his passing sum him up completely. Fred was truly a gentle and beautiful man.

Fred leaves behind his loving wife Cheryle, kids Chris (Nicki-Jo) and Brenda (Cory), grandkids Danica, Zach, Ryley and Brody, sister Sheila (Rick), brothers and sisters in laws Dennis, Delbert (Diane), Bryan (Cathy), Sharon (Ralph), Ernie (Karen), Marilynne, Karen, Richard (Shirley) and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Carl and Miriam Wolfram, brother Larry, parents in law Gordon and Alice Cook, In-laws Gary. Shirley, Allen, Neil, Faye and Louise and nephew Troy.

We would like to thank the staff at both the Grand Fork Hospital and the Hardy View Lodge who took such amazing care of Fred in his last couple of months and got to know him for the sweet man he was that we knew and loved. All that you did for him and the family is truly appreciated and we are forever grateful.

A family celebration of life will happen at a later date in the summer.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that a donation be made in Fred's name to the Hardy View Lodge in Grand Forks.
