Cale Alan Stecyk "Cbar"

Born to Alan and Shari Stecyk, Cale Alan Stecyk passed away suddenly on April 22, 2023, in an avalanche while snowboarding in Lake Louise, Alberta.
Cale was born on July 19, 2001, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. He spent his childhood in Kindersley, Saskatchewan from 2001-2010, and relocated to Red Deer, Alberta in 2010,
where he spent his remaining years.
He was adventurous, outgoing, determined, and diligent. These traits were expressed in many ways, a fitting example being hockey. Cale's favourite sport was hockey, which he
played most of his life, aside from many other sports such as weightlifting, badminton, golfing, basketball, volleyball, soccer, lacrosse, inline hockey, baseball, fishing, snowboarding, etc. His passion for hockey started out in Kindersley, SK at a young age, with his favourite NHL team being the Calgary Flames. As his passion grew, he thrived on
teams in Saskatoon SK, Red Deer AB, Grand Forks BC, and Rocky Mountain House AB.
He most recently played for the Rocky Rams in the Heritage Junior Hockey League, where he made many friends and countless memories. Throughout his years of playing hockey and various sports, Cale utilized the number 9 on his jerseys. This included 9, 19, and 29, with 19 being his most recent. Cale earned the nickname "Cbar" in relation to his shooting of the puck to score, and repeatedly hitting the crossbar. He was a committed athlete with sportsmanlike qualities, winning many awards and receiving plenty of recognition.
Cale had worked at Central Alberta Tile One Flooring in Red Deer, AB, and had many goals and aspirations for his future, such as plans to go to post-secondary school.
Cale met his girlfriend, Makenna Burrows during his time playing for the Grand Forks Bruins of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League in Grand Forks, BC in late 2019. He had expressed many times his desire to grow old with her, get married, and have children. They had shared many heartwarming experiences together within the 3 years of their relationship.
Besides his loving girlfriend, Cale is survived by his mother Shari Stecyk of Red Deer, AB, his father Alan Stecyk of Red Deer, AB, sister Teagan Stecyk of Red Deer, AB, grandparents Karen McNichol of Kindersley, SK, Bill McNichol of Calgary AB, Janet Stecyk of Ituna, SK, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Cale is predeceased by his grandfather Fred Stecyk, Uncle Larry Stecyk, and Aunt Shawna McNichol.
Cale was naturally smart, funny, athletic, charismatic, and lovable. He will be remembered by friends and family for his generous, uplifting, affectionate, humble, and kind spirit.
Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church 96 McMillan Ave. Red Deer, AB T4N 5X8 on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., with final viewing starting at 9:00 a.m.
