Bryan William Haines

August 12, 1952 - September 17, 2014

After a courageous battle with cancer, Bryan passed away peacefully at 62 years of age. Family and friends will always remember his smile, his sense of humour, his warmth and gentleness, his generosity of spirit, his feisty nature, his tenacity, his love of people and his zest for life! Left to treasure his memory are his family: wife Jacqueline, step-daughter Michelle; mother and step-father Lucille & Fred; brothers Blaine (Jackie) and Kevin (Gloria); sisters Dianne (Gerry) and Michelle (Henry); extensive family and many friends. Bryan was a proud Irishman, a football player, a coach, an outdoor education and leadership educator, a canoeist, a bird enthusiast, a lover of dogs, a builder and a maker of dreams come true. Bryan was especially proud of his work and contributions to the 1988 Olympic Games in Calgary as director of the Olympic National School Kit programs. Throughout his thirty year career as an educator, Bryan organized annual Terry Fox Runs resulting in considerable contributions to Cancer Research. In the last two years of his working life, Bryan played a leading role in bringing the Rick Hanson Foundation program to schools in Alberta. Born in Dawson Creek BC, Bryan attended Mount Royal College, the University of Alberta, and earned his Master of Education degree at the University of Lethbridge. Although he left us too soon, all of our lives have been touched and enriched by his spirit. He was one of a kind and second to none.
