June 5, 1927 - January 20, 2022
Mom passed away peacefully on January 20, 2022.
She was born in Vancouver on June 5, 1927, the first of Gordon & Isabel Ardiel's four children. She grew up and attended school in New Westminster, where her parents owned and operated a grocery store.
In 1947 she married her sweetheart Purvis Marshall. They enjoyed their early years together living on a farm in Ladner and working for the family business. Throughout the mid 1950's they adopted three children who enriched their lives and kept them busy.
A big change in their lives occurred when they purchased OK Garage in Grand Forks and made the move on August 4, 1961. It was the hottest day of the year and a shocking change from the Fraser Valley. Over time they came to love the Sunshine Valley, its' friendly people and all the natural beauty.
Bernice taught kindergarten and is fondly remembered by many of the young students who attended her class. She also worked at Acres Drugstore for several years until her retirement in 1986.
Throughout the years living in Grand Forks, Bernice was an active member of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary and served as President and other executive positions a number of times. She also volunteered for several causes that were important to her. She attended St. John's United Church regularly for many years and her faith was very important to her.
Her husband Purvis passed away in 1974 and a few years later she and Frank Wolfram started dating and their relationship blossomed. They spent over 35 years together enriching each other's lives and those they knew. Frank passed away in January, 2016.
Mom is survived by her children Jo-Anna Marshall, Rob (Nicole) Marshall and Barb (Hal) Wright. She had 7 grand children and 7 great grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
