Barnett was born on December 18th, 1920 in Coaldale, Alberta and passed away in Hardy view lodge on March 5th at 94 years of age. He is survived by his wife, Betty, 2 sons Dalton (Robi) and Stuart (Jenny). 4 stepchildren, Ben (Valerie), Mark (Laura), Caryl (Ralph), his special stepdaughter, Ginger (Rodney), his 2 grandchildren Rebecca (Rob) and William (Marianne). Barnett is also survived by 15 step grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter, 18 step great grandchildren, his brother Ronald and 4 nieces and nephews and their children. Barnett was predeceased by his parents and a brother. He grew up in Alberta and wherever his father’s career as an artist took the family. He joined the Canadian Airforce and then was discharged in October 1948 and was a member of the Canadian Legion for many years. He also worked in sales and real estate until he retired. Barnett had two sons with his first wife and after marring Betty in 1982, he became a farmer of organic fruit trees and vegetables. He loved his farm and loved traveling, camping, hiking, fishing and traveling to Mexico and Arizona for the winters months. Barnett was a devoted fan of his favourite football team, the Seattle Seahawks. In March of 2011, Barnett became ill and lived in Christina Lake Manor at Hardy View Lodge until his passing. A special thank you to all the care aides, nurses and doctors for the great care you gave. You are all wonderful. There will be no service as per his request. Grand Forks Funeral Home has been entrusted to his arrangements.
