Anneke Visser (Skilling)

October 31, 1951 – May 12, 2016

Anna Johanna Visser, born on Halloween 1951 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, second daughter to Sietse and Loes Visser and baby sister to Loesje. Anneke was predeceased by both parents and sister.

She is survived by her husband Robert Skilling, step-daughter Laura (Joe), step-son Robert (Kristy) and grandchildren; Brett, Kendra and Emily. Brother-in-law Bap (re married Mary) and Nephews; Michael, Rienaldo (Manuela), their daughters Mirthe and Lara, Tassillo (Cynthia) and their children Thirsa, Tycho and Menno.

Anneke immigrated to Canada in 1979, loved, lived and worked in London, Ontario for almost 10 years. Moved to Montreal, Quebec and went back to school in a serious attempt to improve on her beloved French language. More of Canada beckoned and beautiful British Columbia became her new home in 1993. Over the years Anneke was lucky enough to surround herself with a strong and interesting network of friends and they, along with family, became a priority in her life.

Anneke will be remembered as being fiercely loyal to her family and friends, a strong woman with a sense of adventure, her willingness to help all those that needed her and her ability to make everything beautiful.

Anneke’s Mantra: Measure your “personal wealth” by the amount of people you may rightfully call friends, not by the amount of dollars in your savings account.
