It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Amy Terashita, age 82. She passed away peacefully at RCH, surrounded by her family on March 8, 2013. She was predeceased by her husband Mitsuo in 2008. Beloved mother and grandmother, she is survived by her daughters Karen, Lisa (Aaron), Ellen (Rod) and grandchildren Cameron, Aliya, Brendan, and Kiara.

Amy lived a good part of her life with her family and friends in Greenwood, BC. She loved the sunshine and the warmth of the Interior. She spent her final seven years living in New Westminster, B.C. where she suffered, fought, and recovered from many health challenges. Amy eventually was able to enjoy a quality of life for which she truly deserved. She travelled several times to the U.S.A to visit her daughter and her family, and lived it up with a dream vacation to Hawaii in 2010.

Amy will be fondly remembered for her strength, devotion, and love for her family, and for putting others before herself. She was a great friend to all who knew her. Amy will be in our thoughts and forever in our hearts. She will be deeply missed.

A private service will be held on March 25, 2013 at Queens Avenue United Church, 529 Queens Avenue (on the corner of 6th St and Queens Avenue), New Westminster, BC at 7:00 p.m. for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the HAU staff at the Royal Columbian Hospital for their excellent care and attention which Amy received during her stay at the hospital.
