Alex Laktin was born October 15, 1926 and passed away January 05th, 2014. Alex was born in Aaron, Sask and lived in Benito, Manitoba, later moving to B.C. Living in Nelson, Salmo and finally Grand Forks where he met Betty Zebroff and married in 1948. Alex and Betty had 4 children; Linda, Marilyn, Walter and Bob. The majority of his life Alex was a truck driver and worked numerous construction jobs along with logging. He was predeceased by his parent Alex and Polly Laktin and his wife Betty in December of 2001.

He is survived by his children Linda, Marilyn, Walter (Margaret), Bob (Cindy), brother Fred (Mary) Laktin sister Doris (Mickey) Postnisoff, grand children Marcus and Christopher Turner, Eric, Scott, Nicholas, Michael Laktin, Shane and Amber Vandiver, great grandchildren Ethan and Lexi and numerous nieces and nephews.

Alex passed away peacefully at his present home at “Ivy House” on Silver Kettle Village; where he was surrounded by the caring staff. May he rest in peace. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 11th at 10:00 a.m. at Grand Forks Funeral Home with the burial to follow at the Sion Cemetery and then a luncheon in Alex’s memory.
