On July 31 at 11:51 p.m. on Highway 3, out towards Paulson, police received a report of a commercial vehicle fire.

“A driver driving his tractor and semi trailer down the hill had to hit the brakes very hard and as a result, the brakes overheated and the trailer caught on fire,” Grand Forks RCMP’s Staff Sgt. Jim Harrison said, adding that the Christina Lake Fire Department attended, extinguished the blaze and the vehicle was towed.

There was a fair bit of damage but no collision with any other vehicles, Harrison said.
