On Jan. 17 at 10:17 a.m. police were called to a report of a hit-and-run accident on 14th Street in an incident Grand Forks RCMP's Cpl. Richard Lanz estimated happened the previous night.

There was no sign of the vehicle but there were marks indicating that there was a vehicle that lost control and hit a tree.

“The complainant reported that the tree in his front yard was damaged by a vehicle,” Lanz explained. “There were tire marks in the snow that indicated that the vehicle had left the roadway and hit the tree and departed.”

Lanz said RCMP are still trying to find the vehicle, which should have significant damage.
