On Jan. 26, a break-and-enter in progress was reported at 7:13 a.m.
“Members attended immediately; however, the suspect had fled on a bicycle and is described as (1.72 metres) tall, (75 to 77 kilograms), wearing a black hoodie and black pants and a black backpack,” Grand Forks RCMP's Staff Sgt. Jim Harrison said, adding that the suspect left two shopping carts full of stolen items including cooper wire, copper metal, extension cords and Christmas lights.
While the suspect did not get away with the aforementioned items, Harrison said he did get away with a licence plate from a vehicle on the scene.
“That vehicle’s no-draft window was broken in and the copper wiring was cut out of the engine compartment and found in the shopping cart.”
