I would like to start off by thanking my predecessor John Malloff, for serving as a trustee for Area D for many faithful years.

Firstly, I would like to start off by thanking my predecessor John Malloff, for serving as a trustee for Area D for many faithful years.  It will be tough to step into those shoes with stagnant budgets and the ever-rising costs – people are having to stretch their resources further and further.

Seniors are dealing with fixed incomes and the working class is dealing with a sluggish economy.

It seems like everyone you talk to is under financial pressure.

As I’ve had the opportunity to talk with people involved in the school system, be it the custodians, maintenance staff, teachers or  parents, I’ve discovered they all have their own unique concerns regarding the school system. The common theme though was they all want to provide a certain standard for the students.

They want to have enough time to clean the schools properly, they want to ensure the students arrive at school on time and safely, they want to provide the best possible learning environment and worry class size might interfere with that goal, they don’t want egos to make the decisions but instead, would like what’s in the best interest of the students and they want the children to enjoy being at school and not have to worry about being bullied.

To me, this doesn’t seem like too much to ask for. I know we have some big challenges ahead of us but I am looking forward to being your Area D school trustee and working together with a community that believes in putting the children first.

– David Reid has been elected as trustee for Area D by acclamation
