Rural Grand Forks’ Danna Rozek O’Donnell was declared the winner of the Regional District of Kootenay Boundary’s (RDKB’s) byelection late last week.

The byelection was triggered last October, after MLA Roly Russell resigned his seat on the RDKB’s board in order to devote his attention to his new provincial office.

O’Donell told the Gazette she got the news from the RDKB’s chief election office, Theresa Lenardon shortly after the nomination period closed at 4 p.m Friday, Jan. 8. No other candidates had submitted nominations, according to O’Donnell.

“I’m really happy,” she said Monday, Jan. 11. “It’s really exciting and I’m looking forward to doing some really good things on the board.”
