POLICE REPORT: Shots fired at Black Train Bridge

March 8 At 10:29 p.m., police received a report of a stolen pickup truck out at Christina Lake.

RCMP located the vehicle just outside of Grand Forks and found a 14-year-old girl driving the vehicle.

Staff Sgt. Jim Harrison of the Grand Forks RCMP says that the girl was found in possession of the stolen vehicle and also had tools for breaking and entering and has been charged with that offence.

March 9 At 9:49 p.m. police went to investigate a complaint of shots fired near the Black Train Bridge. They arrested a 27-year-old Grand Forks man who had been previously known to police.

The man was charged with possession of breaking and entering tools, breach of probation and breach of recognizance of bail.

Harrison says the man was found in possession of a large concealed knife, which was a violation of his parole.

March 10 At 9:56 a.m. police received a report that someone had used a Snow Cat to enter a radio site up Santa Rosa Road.

Wire was taken from the exterior of the site and the structure had been broken into.

The matter is still under investigation.

At 10:21 a.m. a report came in that snowmobile parts had been stolen from the Shaw Cable yard on Donaldson Drive.

The parts are off a Ski Doo Rotax 500. Police have no suspects or witnesses at the moment.

March 11 At 1:54 a.m. a GMC pickup truck was pulled over after it was observed circling through back alleys and accelerating hard.

The 43-year-old Grand Forks man failed an alcohol screening and was given a 90 day driving prohibition and 30 day vehicle impoundment. He was also a new driver.

Police seized 501 marijuana plants after searching a residence in Grand Forks that Harrison says had the grow-operation in plain view. He adds that it is still under investigation, but RCMP will be recommending charges of production of marijuana.

Police seized 300 plants from the 75-year-old Grand Forks man in the fall.

“Obviously he doesn’t take the warnings very seriously,” Harrison says. “So we’ll let the courts deal with that matter.”
