POLICE REPORT: 30-year-old male charged with coke possession

On Aug. 30, a Grand Forks resident was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine with the purpose of trafficking, breach of probation and possession of a prohibited weapon.

At 4:54 p.m. on Aug. 30, Grand Forks resident Gordon Libby, 30, was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine with the purpose of trafficking, breach of probation and possession of a prohibited weapon.

“He was remanded into custody to court in Rossland on Sept. 1,” said RCMP’s Staff Sgt. Jim Harrison. “No doubt it will be put off for trial.”

Also on Aug. 30 at 1p.m., a single-vehicle accident near Christina Lake involving an 18-year-old female resident was due to loss of control. The Jeep Cherokee ended up in a ditch, with damages to the vehicle and minor bruising to the driver.

Aug. 31

At 6:20 p.m., a single-vehicle rollover on North Fork Road occurred when a Grand Forks male lost control and spun into a ditch.

“There were no injuries, but it was a write off,” said Harrison.

Sept. 1

Several thefts were reported from vehicles in the area of 78th Avenue. Three Grand Forks males were apprehended, two were 14-year-olds and one 15-year-old.

According to Harrison, the investigation is continuing and some property has been recovered.

“They are definitely responsible for the thefts,” he said.

Sept. 2

A locomotive parked on 2nd Street transfer station has its lock broken, though nothing appeared to be stolen. There was no other damage to the locomotive, but anyone with information is asked to contact the Grand Forks RCMP at 250-442-8288.
