Dr. D.A. Perley Elementary School in Grand Forks hosted its annual track meet on Friday, May 27.

The track meet was a much anticipated event, having been cancelled for the past two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Normally, the school hosts a district track meet. However this year schools are hosting individual competitions.

Intermediate students participated in various events throughout the day, including shot put, long jump, high jump, sprints, and a distance run.

The famous ‘Perley Burgers’ were available for athletes and volunteers at the concession stand. High school students, staff, and parents volunteered to run the stations and concession.

Administrative Assistant Sharon McConnell said students were excited to participate in the days’ activities.

“It’s nice to come back after COVID. This is our first big function that we’ve had where we can invite parents.”

Perley will host a Fun Day for primary students in June.
