Motorcyclist dies after collision

A motorcyclist from Kimberley died near Grand Forks after hitting a cow on the highway.

On August 10 at approximately 10:40 p.m. the Grand Forks RCMP and the West Kootenay Traffic Services attended a crash on Highway 3 and Eholt Road, west of Grand Forks involving a domestic cow and a motorcycle.  A motorcycle was in the fast lane, east bound passing a slower moving vehicle when he struck the cow on the roadway.  The motorcycle driver, a 58 year old male from Cranbrook was pronounced deceased at the Grand Forks hospital. Speed, and alcohol are not factors in this crash.

 

Investigation is continuing in relationship to domestic animals on the roadway.
