Missing teens found at Red Mountain

On January 2nd, shortly after 4 p.m., Red Mountain Resort reported two overdue skiers that had not reported in. The pair, both age 16, were part of a Boy Scout Troop from the state of Washington, USA that were visiting the resort for in-bound skiing. Rossland Search and Rescue were activated and subsequently located tracks, thought to belong to the missing pair, on the back side of Grey Mountain heading into the Esling Creek basin. Search and Rescue continued the search today, January 3,2014, using snowmobiles, skiers and a helicopter to assist in the search. Search and Rescue located the missing skiers in an area west of Red Mountain resort just after 10:00 AM today. The missing skiers were flown down the mountain by helicopter to the Red Mountain Resort area where they were checked over by paramedics just after 11:00 am today.
