A rockslide near the Paulson Bridge on Highway 3 caused damage to a Toyota Rav4. A man also suffered minor injuries.

A rockslide injured a driver on Oct. 7 and blocked one lane of traffic on Highway 3.

The incident occurred one kilometre east of Paulson Bridge, when rocks fell onto a passing Toyota Rav4.

The driver, a 51-year-old Rossland male, was injured when a rock struck him on the arm.

“He had minor injuries from when the rocks fell and was taken to the hospital,” explained Grand Forks RCMP’s Staff Sgt. Jim Harrison.

“Several large boulders ended up blocking one lane of the highway and had to be removed by Emcon, before traffic could be restored to normal.”

The wife of the driver, who didn’t want her name used, told witnesses that there should be more meshing and upgrades, especially to that particular rock cliff.
