Update
A local 39-year-old man has been taken in to custody in connection with a weapons disturbance near Baynes Lake on May 8.
According to Elk Valley Sgt. Svend Nielsen, the man was located at a residence near Baynes Lake on Friday (May 10) around 4:45 p.m., and surrendered to police by walking off the property and on to the road.
He faces firearms, assault and driving related charges, and will appear in Cranbrook court on May 14.

Police are searching for a suspect who remains at large following a “disturbance involving a weapon” at a rural property near Baynes Lake on Wednesday (May 8) morning.
RCMP say the suspect is driving an older model dark grey Ford F-150 with a headache rack, camouflage along the sides, and heavy damage to the windshield and front end.
Police say no one has been reported injured, however, there is a significant RCMP presence in and around the Jaffray community as authorities search for the suspect.
“At this time, the incident appears to be targeted,” said Cpl. Grandy, an RCMP spokesperson. “Police continue to monitor this event and its associated risk to public safety. The suspect does not appear to be an active threat, but does remain at large. Officers are working diligently to locate and apprehend the suspect.”
Police are asking anyone who sees the suspect vehicle to call 911 and not to engage with the driver.
