There was a two vehicle, head-on collision five kilometres west of Rock Creek on Tuesday (May 24) resulting in a number of injuries to three people.

According to RCMP, it appears that a lone occupant of a Volkswagen car headed eastbound on Highway 3, veered into the westbound lane and struck a white, one-ton Dodge truck, which had two occupants – the Volkswagen was said to be rounding a corner and hit the truck on the left, front side.

They say the driver of the driver of the Volkswagen – a 25-year-old female from Victoria, B.C. – was trapped and had to be "extricated" from her vehicle by Midway Rescue and suffered serious injuries to her legs and face.

She was airlifted by helicopter to Kelowna General Hospital and is in serious but stable condition.

The two occupants of the truck – a male and female couple from Maple Ridge, B.C. both aged 57-years – suffered minor injuries and were treated at the hospital in Grand Forks.

The road was wet at the time of the accident and the investigation is ongoing the RCMP went on to say.
