Grand Forks women survives SUV crash and burn

A 28-year-old Grand Forks woman is lucky to have suffered only minor cuts and bruises after the SUV she was driving went down an embankment and caught fire.

The women was driving westbound on Hwy 33, when into a curve and lost control crossing into the oncoming lane and nearly colliding with an eastbound vehicle, according to Kelowna police.

The Green Dodge she was driving then went off the road and down a 30-foot embankment.

The woman was able to exit the vehicle and make her way up the embankment with the help of the man whose vehicle she almost collided with.

Emergency crews put out the burning vehicle and the women was treated for minor cuts, bumps and bruises at Kelowna General Hospital.

She was served violation tickets for No Driver’s Licence and Fail to Keep Right under the Motor Vehicle Act, but police said that neither alcohol, mechanical, weather, medical or road conditions were an issue in the incident.
