On May 1 around noon, Grand Forks RCMP received report of an abandoned vehicle on Old North Fork Road, about one kilometre from the north side of North Fork Road.
“The vehicle was down a (4.6-metre) steep embankment on the south side; it was a 2003 grey Mazda Protégé,” explained Grand Forks RCMP's Staff Sgt. Jim Harrison.
He said the roof was smashed up against a tree and the vehicle was not occupied when police arrived on the scene.
“Obviously there had been an accident and the car had gone over. We did determine who the registered owner is and indications from examining the scene are that the vehicle left the road, after the road had been graded, and obviously it got into some soft gravel and pulled off the roadway to the right-hand side, down the embankment,” Harrison said, adding there were no witnesses and police are still trying to contact the owner.
