Police received reports of an overturned canoe on Christina Lake, near West Lake Drive area on May 31.

Two males were in the canoe when it capsized and other boat operators on the lake rescued them, said Grand Forks RCMP’s Staff Sgt. Jim Harrison.

“The Christina Lake firefighters had provided assistance to the males who capsized their canoe and all occupants were accounted for and no injuries were sustained,” added the staff sergeant.

“The lake was pretty rough that particular day, we suspect (that) to be the cause of the canoe capsizing.”
