On June 8, a vehicle went off the road after swerving to avoid an animal.

The Grand Forks RCMP received a call just after 9 p.m. about a single vehicle accident on Gilpin Road.

“The vehicle went off the road to the right after swerving to miss an animal and it was stuck in a swampy ditch after striking several big rocks,” said Grand Forks RCMP Staff Sgt. Jim Harrison.

There was extensive damage to the 1994 Chevrolet Blazer, but there were no injuries.

The driver, a 31-year-old female from Grand Forks and the two passengers were all wearing seatbelts.

Alcohol was not a factor, said Harrison.
