A Grand Forks man is facing manslaughter charges stemming from a shooting that happened last year.
RCMP announced in a news release Sean Tiessen, now 44, was formally charged with manslaughter on March 28 in a shooting that occurred at a rural home on Granby Road on April 16, 2023. Emergency crews and RCMP arrived at the scene and found a man, Joshua Lockwood, 33, with a gunshot wound and immediately started life-saving measures, but he died shortly after. Tiessen was arrested at the scene and released with conditions pending an investigation and court appearance.
“The RCMP thanks the community for their patience, while investigators thoroughly completed all aspects to bring this matter before the courts,” said Cpl. James Grandy, BC RCMP Spokesperson in a news release.
Because this matter is now before the courts, no further details are being shared, the release stated.
Tiessen was also a southern BC organizer and road captain for the Freedom Convoy in 2022 that saw thousands of people converge on Ottawa demanding an end to vaccine mandates for cross-border truckers and all other COVID restrictions, such as mask wearing and proof of vaccine passports.
