Grand Forks man facing drug possession charges

A 43-year-old man from Grand Forks was arrested by Castlegar RCMP in a drug bust involving a substance thought to be cocaine.

According to Castlegar RCMP, officers executed a warrant at the 1600 block of Columbia Avenue in Castlegar – the result of an ongoing investigation.

The 43-year-old Grand Forks man was arrested along with a 72-year-old woman and a 49-year-old man, both from Castlegar, and all three were known to police.

The three face charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a controlled substance.

"A substantial amount of a substance believed to be cocaine was seized as well as currency and drug paraphernalia," Castlegar RCMP said.

"The female has been remanded in custody for court later on (Jan. 24) in Castlegar, and the two males were released on conditions and have been provided a first appearance court date of Feb. 14 at Castlegar court."
