Fifty-two-year-old man to be charged in copper wire theft from Telus compound in Grand Forks

After responding to reports of a break-and-enter at the Telus compound in Grand Forks, RCMP caught a man trying to steal copper wire.

At 7:54 p.m. on June 14, there were several reports of a break-and-enter and theft of copper wire at the Telus compound on International Road.

“As a result of that, police investigation located the individual responsible and recovered some property,” explained Grand Forks RCMP's Staff Sgt. Jim Harrison. “A 52-year-old Grand Forks male is now (in the process of) being charged with break-and-enter and theft and he is known to police.”

The staff sergeant said that the male was attempting to steal a number of rolls of copper wire when he was intercepted and arrested – all the wire was recovered.

The man’s name has not been released as charges have not been laid yet.
