Development begins for Silver Kettle Village residential care facility

The groundbreaking has taken place for the IH-funded Silver Kettle Village facility in Grand Forks.

Development has begun for a new residential care facility in Grand Forks.

Last April, Interior Health signed a contract with Golden Life Management to build 40 new residential care beds.

The new facility, known as Silver Kettle Village, will be located on 72nd Avenue at 25th Street. Funded by Interior Health, the facility will offer 40 beds, two private care rooms and a 48-unit independent living room.

This facility is in addition to the 80 residential care beds at Hardy View Lodge and nine temporary beds at the Boundary Hospital. Construction to the facility has started and it is estimated to be complete by the summer of 2012.

Interior Health has previously partnered with Golden Life Management in building residential care villages in Trail, Castlegar, Nelson, Fruitvale, Creston, Kimberley, Cranbrook, Invermere and Fernie. The groundbreaking of Silver Kettle Village occurred  yesterday (Nov. 29).
