Date for planned power outage changed from Mother's Day to May 25th

The planned power outage which was originally scheduled for Mother's Day has been moved to Sunday, May 25th.

The planned power outage which was originally scheduled for Mother's Day has been moved to Sunday, May 25th after several businesses complained about potential lost revenue for one of the busiest mornings of the year for restaurants.

From the City website:

Please be advised that FORTIS BC has now rescheduled the power outage that was scheduled for May 11, 2014 (MOTHER’S DAY) to May 25, 2014.

Areas affected will be North of Central from 12th street east including Valley Heights, and the downtown core.

The power outage will occur from:4:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.May 25, 2014

This outage is to facilitate upgrades to the Ruckles Substation to enhance future reliability of the system.

The City of Grand Forks apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause.
