On Feb. 11 at 4:02 p.m. there was a report of a theft and break-in in progress on Fifth Street in Grand Forks.

“When police arrived, the citizen had apprehended a male subject who was in the process of leaving the property with two tool boxes valued at approximately $100,” Grand Forks RCMP's Staff Sgt. Jim Harrison said. “The subject was arrested by police and released on a promise to appear (in court).”

The suspect is also not allowed within 100 metres of the Fifth Street address and police have recommended charges against a 52-year-old Grand Forks male.

"It was a heads up play on the part of the citizen, who managed to capture this individual," said Harrison.
