Christian school in Grand Forks to be re-established?

The wheels have been set in motion for the possible return of a Christian school in Grand Forks.

In response to parental inquiry, the Grand Forks Adventist Church Board voted on March 10 to see if community interest was sufficient to make the re-opening of the Hillview Adventist School feasible.

Lloyd Robinson, educational superintendent for the Seventh-day Adventist schools in British Columbia, had outlined to the group, the financial and administrative issues that need to be addressed in considering the re-opening of Hillview.

The Seventh-day Adventist Church has a long history of providing quality Christian education for communities, including Grand Forks.

Hillview Adventist School was in operation for four years, from 1997 to 2000.

Many in our community have fond memories of their involvement with that school.

Some from the church board still remember the commitment of finances, time and personnel that it took to operate Hillview School back then and realize that to be successful again, it will take a serious commitment on the part of the larger Christian community as well.

On the other hand, every board member recognizes the valuable role that a Christian school can play in supporting parents’ efforts to instill Christian values in their children, and so, are ready and willing to recommit to the challenge.
