Acclaimed: Grace McGregor, Area C

Grace McGregor has been acclaimed as Area C director for the Regional District of Kootenay Boundary.
Acclaimed Area C Director Grace McGregor

I was born and raised at Christina Lake so I know the community very well indeed. If you know me, you know that the wellbeing of Christina Lake is my passion!

Our family owned and operated Cascade Garage Ltd for 35 years; Cascade Excavation doing forest road maintenance and hydro seeding; and Hummingbird Haven B&B. Operating businesses has given me an understanding of the importance of a strong year-round economy for a small rural community like ours.

In 2005 I was approached to run and was elected as Regional District Director for Christina Lake. I have been re-elected three times through acclamation. Currently I am the Chair of the Regional District of Kootenay-Boundary and I sit on 9 Regional, 5 local and 3 provincial committees.  I take my role representing our community and our District very seriously.  I am particularly pleased that the BC Rural Study that I have chaired for the last 6 years has led to a provincial governments’ support of creating a high level Rural Advisory function.

I am a mother and grandmother.  This motivates me to ensure that our  community is prepared to support all of our residents ensuring that we maintain our high quality of life. In 2012 we were able to engage the services of a Community Co-ordinator.  We then established Christina Gateway Community Development Association in order to bring the voices of all the major community organizations together to chart our course forward. We have made exceptional progress.  I am particularly excited by our emerging community investment strategy.

I believe as an elected official it is my duty to attend community meetings and to answer all inquiries. I am available 24/7 so please be in touch with me if you have a question or an idea.

I am an advanced Toastmaster and I am a member of the Grand Forks Rotary Club.
