General Voting Day for the B.C. election is on May 14 and since the next issue of the Grand Forks Gazette comes out on May 15, candidates in the Boundary-Similkameen were asked to provide a last statement telling constituents why they should vote for them.

I'm Doug Pederson, an Independent candidate.

I’ll be transparent with everything I do. Maybe start a trend for the government representatives everywhere. How refreshing that would be?  How many Stanley Cup riot convictions would there have been if it wasn’t for video? How quick the Boston Bombers went on the run after their video was released.

The people deserve honest representation by the best candidate available. I’d put my resume up against all the rest combined. More real world experience and not a chamber of commerce member.

I’ll post video from the Osoyoos and Oliver forums for all to see. The local cable channel 18 will show the Oliver footage for the rest of the election.

I sure wished that the forums would have included a segment where the candidates could have asked one 30-second question. A half-time break of 15 minutes for a coffee and doughnut should be done.

Start it at 5 p.m., a lot of elderly don’t like going out at night.

Everything can be made better; even election forums.

I think with my video and computer background, I can make the position of MLA the most transparent anywhere.

The people are tired of secrets that always cost them money. All the questions and investigations that need to be researched, I can do.

With people seeing all the details. No secrets, no corruption. My overall background trumps what ever the others can offer. I’m against Monsanto and GMO (genetically modified organisms).

I want to see all candidates talk to the marijuana issue. I’d like to see the Young Offenders Act repealed. All records from previous MLA’s should be made available. I’d like to see the people unite rather that be divided by minor issues.

I am Doug Pederson, the people’s candidate.
