Get moving Family Day weekend

This weekend is Family Day weekend and Grand Forks Recreation has partnered with local businesses to offer several free community events.

The Family Day weekend gets started with free activities downtown Saturday morning.

CIBC has generously sponsored a free Family Day skate on Sunday afternoon from 3 to 5 p.m. Free skate rentals and admission will be provided.

Interfor has generously sponsored a free Family Day swim on Monday, Feb. 12 from 1 to 5 p.m. They will be giving away free trees for the first 200 visitors.

Grand Forks Recreation and the Government of British Columbia have sponsored a free Family Day skate on Monday, Feb. 12 from 1:45 to 3:30 p.m. Free admission and skate rentals will be provided

The Jack Goddard Memorial Arena will be busy this weekend as the Novice Minor Hockey players host their home tournament. Come out and cheer on little guys as they take on teams from the Boundary and Kootenays.

Mark your calendars and come out and support the third annual Healthy Heart Month Fitness Fun Fundraiser. GFREC has partnered with the Jazzercise instructors to offer an introduction to Jazzercise and to support a great cause while trying a new exercise program. Edie and her girls will be leading the event with their expertise in fitness. The event will take place on Thursday, Feb. 22 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Perley School gym. Admission is by donation towards the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
