Why volunteering matters

A message on volunteering from Grace McGregor

Volunteers are at the heart of our community. Whether it’s organizing events, coaching kids, or helping out at local programs, people who step up make a huge difference. In small communities like ours, there aren’t always extra hands or big budgets, so the time people give – no matter how small – really matters. Without volunteers, a lot of the things we enjoy just wouldn’t happen.

But volunteering isn’t just about helping others – it’s also good for you. It’s a great way to meet people, learn new skills, and feel more connected to the place you call home. Some of our best community programs exist because people cared enough to get involved. Whether it’s a festival, a fundraiser, or a local club or team, chances are there’s a group of volunteers behind it making things happen.
