Several areas in the Boundary Region are under boil water and water quality advisories for reasons ranging from maintenance to positive pathogen lab results.
The Interior Health water advisory website lists several locations in Christina Lake, Rural Grand Forks, Jewel Lake, Marshall Lake Midway and Rock Creek with boil water notices and one poor water quality notice for the Covert Irrigation District near the Canada/U.S. border in southwest Rural Grand Forks.
In Christina Lake, the Fife neighbourhood, Brewer Waterworks, Cascade Cove RV Park and Christina Lake Golf Club all had boil water notices continuing as of 10 a.m., May 20, due to unacceptable microbial levels and untreated water being at high risk of containing pathogens that pose a risk to human health.
In Rural Grand Forks, The Irrigation District Nursery Area had a notice for a positive coliform lab result, as did the West Grand Forks Mobile Home Park in the north end of the city and Pines Bible Camp Water system on North Fork Road. The Kettleside RV Water System on the east end is undergoing planned routine maintenance.
Heading west, Interior Health is reminding people using the Willgress Lake Rest Area that the water is untreated and requires boiling before consumption. Nearby at Jewel Lake, a boil water advisory is on for both the provincial park water system and the resort water system over inadequate systems.
In Midway, those using the Vaagen Fibre Canada water system are advised to boil their water over unacceptable microbial levels.
There are several advisories in Rock Creek, including the Kettle Wildlife Association for untreated water, Rock Creek Trading Post over a positive coliform test result, Gold Pan Cafe and Triple Acres Mobile Home Park over untreated water, Rock Creek Hotel and the Rock Creek Health Centre over unacceptable microbial levels.
Interior Health advises those living in an area with a boil water advisory to bring all water being consumed to a full rolling boil for at least 60 seconds to kill harmful pathogens and viruses.
