Update: West Kootenay man located safe

Karel Bursik, a resident of Trail, was reported missing on Tuesday, Oct. 22.

The Trail RCMP updated media today that Mr. Bursik was located safe in Osoyoos on Tuesday.

"Thank you for all of the help that led to this successful conclusion," said Sgt. Mike Wicentowich.

The Trail and Greater District RCMP is seeking assistance from the public in locating 60-year-old Karel Bursik, a resident of Trail, who was reported missing on Tuesday, Oct. 22. 

Over the past week, police have conducted an extensive search to locate Bursik but have not yet been successful. 

Bursik is known to hitchhike and frequently travels to Grand Forks. 

He sometimes uses taxis to travel between cities and may have been in the Nakusp area. 

Bursik is described as Caucasian, approximately 6 feet tall, with grey hair typically worn in a ponytail. 

He is usually well-dressed, has a German accent, enjoys discussing war, and is missing his teeth. 

Anyone with information on Bursik’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Trail RCMP detachment at 250.364.2566.
