Grand Forks’ Overwaitea officially became Save-On-Foods last Friday, as the store rebranded to match its parent company. Overwaitea has been in Grand Forks under that name since 1930’s and was originally founded in New Westminster in 1915.

The rebranding is part of the company-wide conversion taking place across B.C. this year. The store was closed overnight Thursday to complete the rebranding and celebrated its first day as Save-On-Foods with activities throughout the store. Grand Forks mayor Frank Konrad was on hand bright and early Friday morning to cut the ribbon on the newly-green store.

Across the province, nine Overwaitea stores will be rebranding this year. Most of the company’s 160 stores in western Canada are Save-On-Foods stores.
