Two men facing several drug charges from a bust in Christina Lake more than a year ago will be back in court on June 3 to decide on how the trial will proceed.
Colin Harrower and Richard Martin are all facing possession for the purpose of distribution and possession for the purpose of exporting.
None of the men appeared in court, with lawyers appearing in person and by video.
Both men are scheduled to be back in court June 5 to complete elections for either judge alone, or judge and jury. Language rights were already read.
A third man, Hy Ouk Lee, was also charged with possession for the purpose of distribution and possession for the purpose of exporting but is being handled separately, with an endorsed warrant for Lee as he failed to appear in court or contact his lawyer. A summons was issued to Lee on Jan. 14, but there was no formal record of Lee receiving or signing it in court records.
According to records, RCMP had received information from border patrol officers that the three men allegedly were in possession of large quantities of marijuana they were trying to smuggle over the Canada/U.S. border. Officers raided the location, finding about 50 pounds of marijuana in duffle bags. Harrower and Martin were arrested, while Lee reportedly fled into the nearby woods, however, his personal belongings were found at the site.

A case of two people charged with committing an indecent act in public is taking different directions as one of the co-accused now has an endorsed warrant.
Vincent Leonard Mason and Heather Marie Barisoff are both facing one count of committing an indecent act in public out of Greenwood. Judge Brown had previously recommended the pair seek alternative measures. The Crown told Judge Brown that Barisoff had met with a parole officer regarding alternative measures and had no issues with it. However, Mason hadn’t and it’s been difficult to track him down as he is currently of no fixed address and is not known to carry a phone.
Neither he nor a lawyer, appeared as scheduled for his court date.
Judge Brown initially stood the case down to allow Mason time to appear but ultimately ordered an endorsed warrant for him as a means of getting him to court for arraignment, on June 3.
Barisoff was also facing two unrelated charges, the operation of a motor vehicle while over 80 BAC and, driving while prohibited and wilfully resisting or obstructing a peace officer. She is also facing a newer charge of assault.
