Grand Forks wants to help new businesses get started in the city, with some free rent.

The Grand Forks Downtown Business Association is partnering with the City of Grand Forks and other participants to establish Grand Forks: The Place to Grow Your Business initiative.

The program aims to bring new businesses into the downtown core of Grand Forks.

Selected new businesses would receive the first six months of their rent free, on a two-year lease.

“We are seeking dynamic, community-oriented businesses that want to work, live and play in a rural community like Grand Forks”, said Alf Him of the DBA in a release.

Proposals for new businesses are required to be submitted before 3 p.m. on Sept. 4 to be considered by the selection committee for the initiative. Submissions must be emailed in pdf format to corporate@grandforks.ca.

More information about the program is available by emailing Alf Him at alf@boardroomcafe.ca, as well as by going to the City of Grand Forks’ website at grandforks.ca.
