Editor, the Gazette:

This a clarion call to all of those civic-minded citizens out there who would like to see more done for our city and who are fed up with the present dysfunctional group that we have.

Come on. Get geared up and throw your hats in the ring, whether it be for mayor or council. We desperately need a complete replacing of the bunch in there now. Let’s have no complaining and head shaking – or worse, like pulling up stakes and moving out, which it seems has happened to too many people and businessess in the past few years.

It’s of no use railing about two councillors (by omission) [Ed note: Letter, Picking a council team, June 6]. They are not a majority. We have four others and a mayor and they more than share the blame – and if they appear on the next slate I’ll run myself. I’m 84 and will be 85 this fall and I’ll do all I can to see a change brought about. We don’t need candidates who’ve have been rebuffed three times by the electorate, nor councillors who were part of that water metre fiasco. Remember that effort? So get involved!
